Feds to Devote New Funds to Fight Flu, Bioterror

The Obama administration announced that it plans to invest
nearly $2 billion in measures to beef up the nation's ability to
respond to bioterrorism and pandemic threats, including $822
million for pandemic influenza vaccine development.
"Our nation must have a system that is nimble and flexible
enough to produce medical countermeasures quickly in the face of
any attack or threat, whether it's a threat we know about today or
a new one," Health and Human Services (HHS) Secretary Kathleen
Sebelius said in a press release.
